Web Site Design

Smart Offices offers a variety of web design services and technologies.  A website should show modern design, highlight the best information about your company and inspire customers to put you on their list of favorites. The complex process of building a site begins with the fundamental question:

What will our website do?

Often times the answer is to simply prove to today’s shoppers that you are internet savvy and maintain a professional image. Other times you may need more advanced features like:

  • Secure online shopping carts
  • Secured access for information that is reserved for customers only
  • Private features & information for employees
  • Web interfaces for connecting with proprietary databases

Smart Offices can design an effective solution for your needs. Often times we take a phased
approach where we add new features when they are needed or budgeted.

What is our approach?

The first step is to perform a needs analysis that identifies what, where and why you need a new or updated site.  The next step is to see what we can offer given your current fiscal realities.  Based on this information Smart Offices will prepare a written proposal outlining the key features, costs and time line involved in the project. Selecting the right design to capture the essence of your business is what we do.

What sites have you done?

What are Templates and WordPress?

What are templates?

The recent availability of high quality templates has greatly reduced the cost of a professional looking website. Technologies like WordPress have allowed customers to take over the day to day need to update site content. A variety of Plugins (i.e. pre written pieces of code) allow for easy and inexpensive addition of new features. Although a template itself cuts out a lot of development time there remains a significant effort to adapt it to the needs of our customers. Customers often say:

‘I like feature X of template 1 and the colors of template 2 and the look of template 3. Can you combine them all?’

The answer of course is yes although the closer you stick to the original template the lower the site costs will be.

What is WordPress?

Wordpress was born in 2003 as an open source blogging tool. Currently there are over 25 million WordPress sites. Basically it is a template system with all of the content and pictures stored in a database. Even if you do not have a blog it is a great tool for designing and maintaining web sites.
